Dear
readers, Once upon a time, the
typical home office was an unassuming affair: an underpowered
PC with a monitor stacked on a pile of phone books, a printer,
and a phone (which doubled as your home line). So much for
ancient history. Today's home setup is potentially more
powerful and functional than the grandest corporate office.
Note the word potentially. With so many choices to make
about hardware, software, Net access, and even electronics,
it's easy to go wrong. The CNET staff, however, has some suggestions--28
of them, to be precise--for the best equipment for your office
needs... In other developments, I feel compelled to reveal
that there's an impostor Steve Fox prowling cyberspace. A new
character in the upcoming video game Tekken 4, this Steve Fox
is a heavy-hitting boxer on the run from the Mafia. That's an
intriguing job description, but I think I'll stick to editing,
thanks.
